Gear Up is a 12-unit instructional series written at the 5th-7th-grade reading level.

Program Description for adults who want to improve academic skills within the context of GED or high-school content areas. Units also include workplace and personal development topics.

GU addresses NRS measures for reading, writing, numeracy, and functional workplace skills at three levels: Beginning ABE Literacy, Beginning Basic Education and Low-Intermediate education.

Each unit requires the completion of a project; a reading passage with a matching audio clip; reading, writing, math, and game activities; and graded quizzes with instant feedback.
Program Format It is essential that a local mentor/facilitator monitor student progress, at least during the first few units of the series, until they become familiar with the format.

GU can be accessed online upon request. Otherwise, the units will be delivered on a CD, with permission granted to be copied on unlimited number of computers in one institution.
