In this offering, an experienced media relations professional will identify interview situations school board members and school administrators are likely to encounter. The offering will suggest strategies for dealing with the situations and how to “get your point across” in the interviews.

Federal Law: Sexual discrimination and harassment in the workplace is a punishable offense under federal law. Employees subjected to harassment can seek equitable or injunctive relief.
Program Description
This course is devoted to explaining what sexual discrimination and harassment is under federal law, behaviors that may be interpreted as sexual harassment in the workplace, activity that may create a hostile work environment, and how to respond to allegations of sexual discrimination and harassment. The issues will be addressed in the context of the public school environment. The presenter for this course will be an attorney who is a former classroom teacher and school administrator. The presenter is also experienced in advising public school districts pertinent to school district policies and practices.This program is appropriate for “whole school board” participation. The program is also appropriate for staff training/orientation in small or large groups.

Program Description This presentation will provide an introduction and basic overview about Response to Intervention—how RtI “came to be” and the implications for policy-makers. This offering is appropriate for school board members and school administrators, including administrators of special education programs.
Objectives Participants in this program will:
1. Better understand how RtI can be a model for the improvement of learning for all students;
2. Better understand the key elements for the implementation of RtI; and
3. Better understand the role of the classroom teacher in implementing RtI.

• Applies knowledge about human learning and change. (Learning)
