This interactive videoconference, led by OMSI Chemistry Lab educators, takes teachers from blowing giant bubbles to creating chemical reactions in the classroom. These affordable, easy-to-use activities are inquiry-based and fully aligned with state content standards. Practical strategies for integrating activities into your classroom are included, along with No Hassle Messy Science with a WOW!, a teacher resource guide loaded with activities, posters and support materials (WOW!).

Program SeriesThis is a mandatory three part series. Each 2-hour segment focuses on a different science discipline; Earth Science, Life Science and Physical Science.

Education: Curriculum Director, Professional Development Director, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, Teacher, Paraprofessional, Media Specialist/Librarian

Teachers will interact with OMSI Educators and become familiar with selected Expedition Northwest (XNW) activities through hands-on experience and will be introduced to the rest of the activities by the Educators who developed them. Registration and access to XNW on-line resources will also be accomplished.


1.Introductions of OMSI Educators including science specialty and contact information.2.Registration for on-line access followed by an overview of the on-line resources.3.An overview of all of the activities in the scheduled science discipline (Earth, Life or Physical Science).4.OMSI Educator-facilitated practice with several hands-on inquiry-based activities.

Upon completion of the three part series, teachers will be able:-to access the Expedition Northwest gated on-line community and utilize student digital labs, Science Hero Biographies, video resources and teacher-only on-line tools.-confidently use the Expedition Northwest curriculum activities with their students
