Program Description
The National WWII Museum, "America's National World War II Museum," explores the contribution of American women to our victory in WWII. Learn the WWII history of this often-forgotten population, receive classroom-ready lesson plans, and discuss teaching strategies with the museum's education staff.

Program Format
Museum education staff will review the materials in the workshop packet, lead teachers through several lesson plans, and present video of women during WWII. Teachers will debate several discussion questions meant to show students the relevance of this history to their lives.

Objectives
Teachers will explore the varied roles women played during WWII.Teachers will compare and contrast women's experience of WWII with today's society.Teachers will discuss creative strategies for sharing this material with their students.

National Staff Development Council Standards to which this program aligns
This session covers these national student standards: NSS-USH.5-12.8 ERA 8: THE GREAT DEPRESSION AND WORLD WAR II (1929-1945).In addition, this session covers the following NSDCS standards.Context Standards:-Organizes adults into learning communities whose goals are aligned with those of the school and district.-Requires skillful school and district leaders who guide continuous instructional improvement.Process Standards:-Uses learning strategies appropriate to the intended goal.-Applies knowledge about human learning and change.Content Standards:-Deepens educators' content knowledge, provides them with research-based instructional strategies to assist students in meeting rigorous academic standards, and prepares them to use various types of classroom assessments appropriately.
