Program Description
Mathematics vocabulary terms can be confusing to even the most learned mathematicians at times. Mathematics terms share distinct meanings with other content areas. There are those sneaky homonyms! There are numerous related words, and there are those terms that have multiple meanings . . .only to name a few of the issues! It could be that vocabulary is actually preventing your students from grasping and owning those mathematics concepts you're trying to explain. Join Monica Cougan, math educator and serious advocate of problem-based learning strategies, as she makes sense of math vocabulary. Monica explores the ins and outs of standard mathematics vocabulary, examines the confusing elements, offers strategies for clarification and explanation, and shares ideas on differentiation that makes mathematics vocabulary terms "stick." Monica's extensive work with educators and students gives credence and authenticity to her methods as she shares best practice models. And, those methods take the "madness" out of your classroom woes!
