Has vocabulary gotten to be the "same old thing" in your classroom? Spice it up with research-based practical vocabulary strategies that best promote vocabulary development in and out of the classroom! This session includes: (1) the three areas of vocabulary that should be taught in the classroom; (2) affective (subjective association) vocabulary strategies; and (3) physical-sensory (motor) approaches to teaching and vocabulary.
Program Format
The program will include:- an overview of the definition of vocabularyand the importance of vocabulary developmentto enhance comprehension- direct modeling and classroom examples- audience participation- vocabulary resources- questions and answers
Objectives
The participants learn more about:1. The three areas of vocabulary that should betaught in the classroom,2. Affective (subjective association) vocabularystrategies, and3. Physical-sensory (motor) approaches toteaching and learning vocabulary.
