Topic: Reading Maps! Itineraries for Guiding and Challenging Gifted Readers (Part I)
Description:
Gifted readers require more than placement in high ability reading groups. Gifted readers must experience literature that stimulates both intellectual and social-emotional needs. This video conference session introduces the “Reading Map” process and reading strategies which promote critical/reflective thinking. Participants who attend will receive recommended book lists to guide students’ reading journeys. This is a two-part professional development series that can be viewed alone, or in conjunction with segment II. Segment II will go beyond identification and plunge into using various program options and differentiated instruction.
