From scientists using illustrations to explain important principles to artists using chemistry knowledge to mix pigments and prepare painting surfaces, the dialogue between art and science has powerfully shaped both disciplines for centuries. Using artworks from the Carter’s permanent collection, educators explore the interrelationship between art and science. Educators will discuss artists as scientists, artists’ representations of plants, artworks that show motion and balance, and artists as environmentalists. This workshop connects to all levels of math, science, and visual art.
