Teachers' Domain: Public Television's Free Library of Primetime Resources
Teachers' Domain is a collection of over 1,000 free media resources taken from public television's best programming: NOVA, Frontline, Design Squad, American Experience, and more. But most teachers do not know it exists!  Gary Greenberg, an education staffer at ThinkTV/CET, will demonstrate Teachers' Domain and help teachers apply it to topics in science, STEM, history and other content areas.

David and Kayleen Explore Sound - STEM Lesson for grades 1-3
Students use the Engineering Design Process to investigate factors influencing the perceived volume of a sound.  Students will design and build ear protection after they explore the absorptive properties of different materials and their effects on recorded decibel readings.  Students redesign their ear protection prototype in to produce a design that absorbs even more sound.

Putting Comprehension First in the Literacy Curriculum
Dr. Claudia Cornett will review key concepts of her recent book: Comprehension First: Inquiry into Big Ideas Using Important Questions. She will address important questions including: why should comprehension be given priority in today's literacy curriculum?; how is the Comprehension First proposal related to the new Common Core Standards that have been adopted by most states?; what are the key features of comprehensive instruction that is based on research conclusions?

Free Educational Resources from PBS
In this session presented by Think TV PBS, educators will learn about the quality, free resources available from PBS, including PBS Teachers, Teacher's Domain, and Ohio PBS member-station content on Ohio iTunes U. Elementary through High School teachers will learn how to access, organize and integrate these technology resources, which include video and multi-media learning modules, teacher guides, lesson plans, and activities across the content areas. Teachers will also learn best practices for using media in the classroom.

Exploring Wind Speed - STEM Lesson for grades 3-4
Students will observe wind in nature and measure wind speed using a self-constructed anemometer and Beaufort scale.  Students will also design build and use a kite to test the wind's ability to do work (e.g. lift the kite).  Students will use age appropriate math skills to record and graph their findings.
