Research has shown that trauma significantly increases the risk of physical illness, mental health problems, poor school performance, and difficulties with social relationships and behaviors (http://www.nctsnet.org/). Join Lisa Pool, CCLS, for a 1.25 hour program designed to give school nurses an understanding of what trauma means to a child and some of the common developmental reactions. This program will also identify influences affecting the trauma response, techniques to help the traumatized child and their parents, and available resources and community referrals.
