Free PD for NORT2H Members! TECHNOLOGY TOOLBOX
Need Technology Professional Development for your teachers but don’t have the time to search for presenters, educational technology topics and can’t afford to bring people in? NORT2H has the solution for you! Technology Toolbox is a series of PD Sessions for schools to receive over videoconferencing. With 22 topics scheduled, schools can join other schools from across the county for presentations on the many of the hottest topics in educational technology at one low price. The series is offered twice each day at 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm Eastern time zone.
The NORT2H Consortium has been providing Technology Professional Development over videoconferencing for over five years to schools in Ohio and have been offering select programs through CILC since the start of the PD Market Place. Technology Toolbox is a PD series that have been offered to schools in Ohio. NORT2H is now making these programs available to all schools through the CILC PD Market Place as the complete series or as individual programs. Purchasing the series will be provide your school with a guaranteed seat in all of the programs sessions and provides a cost savings over individual programs.
School districts purchasing the program are welcome to switch sessions times and locations for each of the sessions. Before each session your school will be contacted by NORT2H to confirm participation, identify the session time and the location for that session. The purchase of the series provides schools or districts 1 IVC connection for each topic at the time scheduled.
Additional programs add to the technology toolbox series are available to schools purchasing the series at no additional costs making the price per session drop as the year goes on. Each year NORT2H has new topics, guest presenters and even reruns of popular topics that are added to the schedule. Any new programs to the technology toolbox series are included in the original purchase price of the series.
he NORT2H Consortium offers teachers the opportunity to purchase graduate credit through Ashland University as a combination of live events and online learning. Teachers interested in purchasing graduate credit must complete the following:
1) Complete the online registration with Ashland University between September 28, 2010 and December 2, 2010; and
2) Attend 16 out of the 22 listed programs from NORT2H; and
3) Complete 16 of the 22 followup learning modules on NORT2H's Moodle site for Technology Toolbox; and
4) Complete one out-of-class project. The class project is the creation and implementation of one of the Web 2.0 tools demonstrated by the NORT2H consortium. Teachers must submit their projects prior to the close of the class on May 20th.

Polar Bears in a Changing Climate
Polar bears and their habitat are affected by climate change, as are many other species and environments around the world. Through Challenge Based Learning, students can become actively involved in authentic, scientific studies, creatively design solutions, and take action and utilize technology projects to make a difference both locally and globally. Join Julene Reed during this session to learn how the polar bears in the Hudson Bay area are being affected by climate change, how Challenge Based Learning can engage students in related activities that are based on 21st century education skills, and how the"Tundra Connections" program from Polar Bears International is providing educators and students with live videoconferencing and webcast opportunities with scientists on the tundra as well as curriculum resources to inspire action and make a difference.
