(Registration Deadline 11/5) Learn about key American photographers and photographic processes and styles, as well as how photography from 1839 to the present day relates to American history. Connect photography’s history to all levels of language arts, science, social studies, and visual art.
Tuesday, December 9 - 4:00 to 6:00 CST – Professional Development – Teaching Language Arts Through Visual Arts - $10 per teacher
Artworks can be a powerful tool for developing skills in oral and written language. Use works from the Carter’s collection to introduce strategies for writing, listening, reading, and speaking. Modifications for students with limited English and those with learning differences will also be shared. Participants learn the basic vocabulary and strategies associated with art interpretation and experience engaging classroom activities designed to teach fine arts while developing written language skills.
