Program Description
Bullying is often the number one non-academic issue that many educators will have to face during their teaching careers. Bullying is a major concern for most parents as their children enter school. Yet, many educators have never had a class, let alone a course about this issue. The self-directed online course E101 -An Introduction to Bullying for Educators from www.bullyingcourse.com, will help prepare educators to address this issue using a foundation of world-class research combined with practical and effective strategies. This course will offer the following to participants:• A working definition of bullying that will be helpful to educators• A deeper understanding of bullying behaviours and how they can manifest themselves• Access to some of the world's best academic research about bullying that educators willfind relevant to their schools• Review research findings related to bullying behaviours• Develop awareness of the consequences of bullying, both personally and socially• Practical ideas and helpful resources that can be used to prevent bullying behaviours• Develop effective strategies for preventing and eliminating bullying both in theirclassrooms and their schools• Develop an understanding of the emerging issue of cyberbullying and the role that educators can play in addressing it• An introduction to research-supported, anti-bullying programs and resources• Practical course assignments that can be used by educators to address bullying in theirschools• Access to rich, creative multimedia resources that will make the learning experiencemore enjoyable and engaging for a variety of learning styles
