To increase student engagement and motivation, this hands-on interactive videoconferencing workshop provides teachers with strategies to identify and incorporate standards-based resources in a lesson, unit or project. In addition, participants gain an understanding of basic concepts for effective collaboration and project management

Participants will:- design a standards-based lesson that incorporates IVC resources and a variety of instructional strategies.- learn to increase student engagement and motivation through the use of IVC.- learn strategies to integrate IVC and other technologies into their curriculum.- explore various types of IVC applications.

The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for students. (knowledge)The teacher can evaluate teaching resources and curriculum materials for their comprehensiveness, accuracy, and usefulness for representing particular ideas and concepts. (knowledge)The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage students' development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal, nonverbal, and media communication techniques to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.The teacher plans for learning opportunities that recognize and address variation in learning styles and performance modes.
