African American Lives 2 will profile some of the nation's most intriguing and well-known African-Americans in a fascinating and revealing way; Tina Turner, Morgan Freeman, Chris Rock, Jackie Joyner Kersee, Don Cheadle, Maya Angelou, and more. Combining personal interviews, historical research, and cutting-edge technology, host Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and a team of genealogical experts will set out to tell the unique and powerful histories of the celebrity guests.


10:00 a.m. Host John Ramicone will introduce today's program and show a DVD highlighting the African American Lives 2 series scheduled to air on WVIZ/PBS February 6 and 13.


10:30 a.m. Hosted by WVIZ's Dee Perry, listen to a live panel discussion on genealogy. Panelists include:

Dr. Bernard Powers, acclaimed historian and author, Avery Institue of the College of Charleston;

Dr. Peter Rutkoff and Dr. Will Scott, experts on the local African diaspora; Joyce Coakley, expert on Gullah traditions and sweet grass baskets; and Dr. Deborah Abbott, President, African-American Genealogical Society, Cleveland, Ohio.
